Anamaria Marinca is a Romanian actress. Her debut on screen was in The Channel 4 film Sex Traffic and was the recipient of the British Academy Television Award for Best actress. Speaks French, German, English and Romanian easily. Her mother played the violin as did her father, who is a professor of theater at one the best drama schools in Europe. Won the Best Female Actor of the Year in 2000 Award in the young Actor Gala Mangalia. The European Film Promotion Board named her an European Shooting Star in 2008. She also got several awards for the role in 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days, a Romanian film that was widely acclaimed by the London Film Critics as being the top production of 2008. In 2007, she appeared in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 days (4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days) directed by Cristian Mungiu. It won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other prizes (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). She also appeared as a child in Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth. In 2008, she starred as Yasim Anwar in the BBC 5-episode mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca performed as Yasim in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, along with on the Romanian Drama Boogie. In the feature film Fury (2014) in which she performed the role of Irma, a German woman, who played Emma's aunt.
